FAQ
Do you accept insurance?
Not at the moment.
What if I can’t afford your rates?
I have limited discounted fee spots available. Please ask me about this when we talk next. If I don’t have any discounted fee spots available at the time, you can find contacts to other providers on my Resources page.
How long will I be in therapy?
Every person has different needs therefore the length of treatment will vary. Together, we will establish clear goals for your time with me and we will review them regularly to ensure that we are seeing progress.
Whenever we feel that you have reached your goals, we will work together to ensure you have enough tools to move on to living the type of life you want to live.
How long will sessions last and how often will we meet?
Our sessions will last approximately 50 minutes (unless we both agree on a different duration) at a frequency we both establish (standard frequency is once per week, but it can vary).
What will therapy with you look like?
I am a bilingual therapist in English and Spanish. My therapeutic style varies according to the needs of my clients at any time. I use techniques from several schools of psychotherapy, mainly from the Humanistic, Experiential, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). This means that to achieve your therapy goals, I may use talk therapy to offer you a space where you can vent and process your thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental way. Other times, I may offer you the option of participating in an activity, responding to an evaluation, or crafting an expressive art piece. Other times I may invite you to practice a skill in between sessions to strengthen what you learn in therapy.
You can rest assured that before participating in any of these therapy techniques I will consult with you. I will explain the reason and the purpose of the intervention, and you will decide if you believe it may or may not be something you’d be open to engage in. We will also process the results together at the end.
Additionally, if we both agree that it would be beneficial to involve other members of your family to achieve your goals, I will offer to schedule some joint or separate sessions with them.
What if I don’t see progress in my therapy?
We will review your goals and your progress regularly to ensure we stay on track. If any of us believe that you are no longer benefiting from my services, we will work on ending therapy, and I will be happy to refer you to other providers that treat clients with needs like yours.
