FAQ
Do you accept insurance?
To protect your privacy and give you the best care possible, I do not work directly with insurance companies. This allows us to focus entirely on your goals—not on diagnoses or restrictions that insurance might impose. Many clients find that this flexibility creates a more personalized and empowering experience.
How long will I be in therapy?
The length of therapy depends on a few things, like your goals, the challenges you’re facing, and how things evolve over time. Some people come for a few months to work on something specific, while others choose to stay longer for deeper growth or support. We’ll check in regularly about your progress and make sure therapy is aligned with what feels most helpful for you.
Whenever we feel that you have reached your goals, we will work together to ensure you have enough tools to move on to living the type of life you want to live.
How long will sessions last and how often will we meet?
Our sessions will last approximately 50 minutes (unless we both agree on a different duration) at a frequency we both establish (standard frequency is once per week, but it can vary).
What will therapy with you look like?
I’m a bilingual therapist and speak both English and Spanish. My approach to therapy depends on what each person needs at the time. I use different techniques from several types of therapy, especially Humanistic, Experiential, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
This means that sometimes we’ll use talk therapy to give you a safe space to express and process your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Other times, I might invite you to do an activity, answer a questionnaire, or create something like expressive art. I may also suggest practicing a skill between sessions to help strengthen what you’re learning.
You can always feel comfortable knowing that before trying any of these techniques, I’ll talk to you first. I’ll explain why I’m suggesting it and what it’s meant to help with. Then, you get to decide if it feels right for you. We’ll also talk about how it went afterward.
If we both feel it could help to involve family members to support your goals, I’ll offer to set up joint or separate sessions with them too.
What if I don’t see progress in my therapy?
If at any point you feel like you’re not making progress, we’ll talk about it openly. Sometimes progress can be slower than we hope, or it might not look the way we expect. Together, we’ll explore what might be getting in the way—whether it’s the approach we’re using, the goals we’ve set, or something else—and adjust as needed. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your feedback is essential in helping us make sure it’s truly helpful for you.
Also, if either of us ever feels that I may not be the best fit for what you need—whether it’s because you’d benefit from a different specialty or approach—we can talk about that too. I’ll be happy to help you find another provider who may be a better match for your goals.
